Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong

Habitat has been serving the local community in Hong Kong since 2004. Our mission is bringing people together to improve housing conditions in Hong Kong and build homes overseas, giving a hand-up to people in need and strengthening communities to be self-reliant and resilient.

Project Home Works

Our Project Home Works programme fills a critical service and resource gap by providing cleaning, repair, renovation and modification services for vulnerable elderly people living in public rental housing. We work with local NGOs and social workers to identify families most in need of our services.

Project School Works

Since 2016, Habitat Hong Kong has run a youth engagement programme, Project School Works, which aims to provide pupils in primary and secondary schools in  underserved areas, with a bright and cheerful school environment. We aim to foster community caring, social awareness of housing issues and create a learning environment the children can be proud of.

Tai Po Fire Response & Recovery

On 26 November 2025, a catastrophic fire swept through Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, claiming 168 lives and displacing nearly 2,000 families. We mourn those who were lost and stand in solidarity with the survivors whose lives have been irreversibly changed. This tragedy underscores not only the urgency of immediate relief, but also the critical need for sustained, long-term housing support to help families rebuild their futures with dignity.

Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong is committed to playing a central role in long‑term recovery. Building on our post‑disaster housing expertise and deep understanding of elderly residents’ needs, we are currently developing a three‑year plan to provide comprehensive housing services. This plan is being shaped in close consultation with transitional housing operators, frontline social workers, and the families themselves to ensure support that is responsive, coordinated, and impactful.

From the outset, our response has been targeted and guided by real‑time requests from Transitional Housing sites, elderly centres, and the social workers supporting each family. To ensure alignment with major institutional efforts, including those led by the HKSAR Government, we have kept the Housing Bureau informed of our work. We have also registered our initiatives through the Hong Kong Council of Social Service platform and connected with NGOs addressing complementary needs, such as health and food support, to maintain coordinated action.

While planning for long‑term recovery, we remain focused on immediate needs. Through our service days, families have been receiving essential household items such as beds, bedding, tables, chairs, wardrobes, rice cookers, heaters, blankets, and kettles; items that provide practical support and help restore a sense of comfort and stability during a period of profound upheaval.

We would like to say a massive thank you to our donors, volunteers, and partners. Together, we can help the families of Wang Fuk Court rebuild their futures with dignity.
