Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong

I chose to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, as I consider myself to align with their mission – to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. As I have been a part of Project Home Works in December 2019, I learned a lot about what other people in our community are facing, and I had the opportunity to do my part in the community by fixing the senior lady’s roof in her home. The difference that the team and I made meant a lot for the lady, as we got to gain insight into the situation that some of them are facing. I really enjoyed being a part of Project Home Works, as that activity allowed me to experience the lives of others in the community, even if it’s only for a day. The most satisfying part about volunteering with Habitat is that you can feel the bond between people, as we all have a common goal to improve the homes of those in need. The community problem that I observed from my volunteering experience apart from inadequate situations of certain things around the house, there are also many underlying issues with the elderly living alone at home.
