Former US President Jimmy Carter started his involvement with Habitat for Humanity International in 1984 ,since then, Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn have given a week of their time every year– along with their construction skills – to build homes and raise awareness of the critical need for affordable housing. The JRCWP is held at a different location each year, and attracts volunteers from around the world. The project has drawn nearly 100,000 enthusiastic volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves to help build or improve homes in partnership with families in need of affordable housing. Together with the Carters, these volunteers have built, renovated or repaired more than 4,000 homes in 14 countries.
35th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project will take place in St. Joseph County, Indiana from August 26-31, 2018. Future homeowners will work alongside President and Mrs. Carter and hundreds of other volunteers from Indiana and around the world to build or improve 38 homes in Mishawaka and South Bend.
