Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project

Carter Work Project

Former US President Jimmy Carter started his involvement with Habitat for Humanity International in 1984 ,since then, Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn have given a week of their time every year– along with their construction skills – to build homes and raise awareness of the critical need for affordable housing. The JRCWP is held at a different location each year, and attracts volunteers from around the world. The project has drawn nearly 100,000 enthusiastic volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves to help build or improve homes in partnership with families in need of affordable housing. Together with the Carters, these volunteers have built, renovated or repaired more than 4,000 homes in 14 countries.

The 2017 Carter Work Project will be held at sites across Canada July 9-14, 2017. The two main build sites will be hosted by Habitat Edmonton in Alberta and Habitat Manitoba in Winnipeg. President and Mrs. Carter and hundreds of volunteers will help 150 families to access affordable homeownership across Canada for Canada’s 150th anniversary – Habitat Canada’s biggest build ever!
