Housing Series 4: Climate smart solutions for affordable housing and green living

The millions of families Habitat for Humanity partners with around the world are often among the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, which include increasingly common and severe weather events such as typhoons, floods, wildfires, tornadoes and droughts. As we start to experience higher temperatures, more frequent and heavier rain in Hong Kong, vulnerable communities are most impacted by these negative effects. In this session, we heard from expert speakers about some exciting and innovative developments to provide climate-smart solutions, which are being created to alleviate these impacts at the household and community level.

Housing Series 1 : Addressing housing inequity through Universal Design

We are excited to launch the Habitat Housing Series! This first event built on our conversation at last year’s Housing Forum about the intersection of housing and inclusion. We were so honoured to have two amazing speakers – Judith E. Heumann and Dr. Calvin Luk who shared their experience and expertise on the topic of Universal Design* and how we can take action to address systemic inequities in Hong Kong through accessible environments. Thank you to Jo Hayes, our CEO, for moderating this inspiring fireside chat.
