More than 30 years ago, the United Nations General Assembly took an important step in promoting the idea that everyone deserves a decent place to live by declaring that the first Monday in October would be World Habitat Day. To celebrate World Habitat Day 2016, Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong has held the Executive Briefing on Urban Slums in Hong Kong on Oct 3, 2016.
On Monday, 3 October 2016, Habitat joined with our partners around the world to rededicate ourselves to recognizing the basic right of everyone to adequate shelter. Habitat International asks all affiliates, national organizations, partners and supporters to join together as one global network in communicating the message that every one of us deserves the opportunity for a better future, and that a decent home opens the door to improved health, better performance in school, greater economic opportunities, women empowerment, and increased community cohesion.
