Siem Reap is widely renowned as the gateway to Angkor Wat, however, with a population of 980,000, 30% of households are still living in poverty. The province is also vulnerable to extreme climate events. In 2016, Siem Reap was gripped by drought in March and May, and dragged by flooding in August and October, thousands of houses were damaged or destroyed. Habitat for Humanity has been launching projects in Siem Reap since 2007, we are now recruiting 30 higher education or university students to join us and build brick houses for families in need of stable housing. The prospective homeowners would include orphan, disabled individuals, elderly and people living with HIV/AIDS.
